Summary
A horse refused to move when it saw ghosts.
A farmservant who was fee'd [hired] seven or eight miles from home took the farmer's horse to go and see his father, who was dangerously ill. He had to cross five or six miles of moor. In the middle of the moor the horse stopped and refused to go on. The farmservant looked between the horse's ears. His grandmother had told him that by doing this he would see what the horse was seeing. He saw a man digging a grave, and a woman and child floating in the air above him. Twenty or thirty years before, a woman had been murdered by her lover and buried there on the moor. The horse had seen the ghosts.
