Summary
A farmservant was torn to pieces by the ghost of a girl that haunted the chaumer.
It was known that a certain farm in Aberdeenshire was haunted. Every night the three fee'd [hired] men locked the door of their chaumer [room], and in the morning it was found open. They always had a strange feeling that someone was there around midnight. One night they lit a lamp, and at midnight a beautiful girl appeared dressed in the style of two hundred years before. She appeared every night, and one night, after a meal-and-ale [harvest celebration], one of the young men decided to follow her. Next morning he was found in the farmyard, torn to pieces.
