Curing through thread-chewing.

Some folk believed that an illness could be cured by means of thread-chewing. The gifted person would chew on a thread whilst reciting some poem. Afterwards, he would put a knot in the thread and ask some relative of the patient to keep the thread in his pocket. A man by the name of Willie Dingwall was renowned for this.
