Summary
An emigrant song. The poet's spirit is gloomy; he has had to leave the place where he was brought up to go to Canada. He remembers the young people that he was brought up with and the old men of the village. Some of them would not be there if he returned. He thinks of his sweetheart herding the cattle. He had hoped to marry her.
