Summary
An emigrant's song of nostalgia and longing for his homeland. He writes in old age and tells that he was sad to have had to leave his homeland to go and live in Canada, which he finds cold and wet. He looks back to the days he spent in Uig, on the Isle of Lewis, and names some of the people he remembers and whom he may never see again. He thinks of the girl he had intended to marry and remembers how he used to visit her out on the grazing land while she tended the cattle.
