[Beginning lost.] An old man went to sell his only cow to pay the rent. He met a brownie who gave him a magic bottle in exchange for the cow. The bottle produced lots of money. However, he sold the bottle, and much later he was again reduced to selling his cow. Again he got a magic bottle from the brownie. This time a large man emerged from the bottle and hit him, but also gave him money. The old man's son, Jack, inherited the bottle. When he needed money, the bottle emerged from the safe. A brownie took it away and gave him money, and he lived happily ever after.
